I am an amateur photographer having photographed Birds and Mammals for the last 30 years. The early days were slides and I converted to digital in 2004. Most of the images on the website are original jpegs. I am now starting to use some RAW images. Only minor photoshop work has been undertaken. Some of my earlier work has images scanned from slides.

All images are of
Wild Birds, Wild Mammals, Wild Plants and Wild Insects. The only exception is a few images of designated captive species taken in Australia.

My main interest is in Bird and Mammal photography. I have also specialised in Hummingbirds taken in Costa Rica, Ecuador and Trinidad and Tobago.
The Birds & Mammals are listed under the Countries in which they were photographed. This also applies to the small sections on Butterflies, Dragonflies, Wild Flowers and Trees and also Landscapes.

The system I use is Canon which includes Canon 7D bodies. 500 f4 lens and 70 to 200 f2.8 lens for Birds and Mammals. I use 28-135mm or 16-35mm for Landscapes and Macro 100.f2.8 for Insects and Flowers.

Images are best viewed in full as the thumbnails may not show the complete visual. To view the images as a complete visual, click on any individual thumbnail and you will see the full image. From here, click on the arrow tips positioned either side of the full image to advance back and forth through the chosen category.

The Galleries will be extended over a period of time and new ones added.

FAVOURITES

MY FAVOURITE BIRD PHOTOS

UK & EUROPE

I have put my favourite photos in the first home section for UK and Europe. These represent areas most visited by some British photographers.

These photos were chosen for the better images, difficult Birds to photograph or showing specific behaviour. Some UK Birds are easier to photograph in Europe. Eg. Hawfinch and Collared Flycatcher in Hungary and Stone Curlew in Spain

My favourite areas across Europe are Spain, Hungary, and the Greek Island of Lesvos, which are sometimes helped by using hides or photographing from a vehicle.

In the UK my favourite areas for Bird Photography are North Yorkshire including Swaledale and Bransdale using a car. Other UK favourites include Shetlands, Brownsea Island in Dorset, Blashford in Hampshire, and Northumberland including the Farnes and Upper Coquet Valley.

WORLD

In the World, my favourite destinations are Costa Rica, Ecuador, SriLanka, Florida USA, Brazil Pantanal, Chile, South Africa, Botswana, Kenya and the Falklands.

I have tried to represent these destinations by starting a BIRDS OF THE WORLD series. At present, this includes Hummingbirds, Owls, Penguins, BeeEaters, Kingfishers, Parrots, Tanagers, Toucans and Woodpeckers. Other sections will be added to represent some of the larger Birds of the World.

MY FAVOURITE MAMMAL PHOTOS

I intend starting these favourites, which will mostly come from Africa and the Americas.
